Many events hosted at CPAC support the Queensland Government's Companion Card Program which promotes fair ticketing for people who have a disability and a lifelong need for 'attendant care support' to attend venues and activities.
Access to the Companion Card program is only available to Companion Card holders when booking tickets in person, or calling the Box Office on 1300 855 835. The cardholder must provide their Companion Card details when making bookings and present the valid ID card to receive their (free) ticket/s from the Box Office at the CPAC venue one hour prior to the event.
Look for 'Companion Card accepted' on the event pages or check with the ticketing staff to determine if the card will be accepted for the event you want to attend.
How it works
Cardholders present their card when purchasing tickets at participating businesses and receive a free ticket to be used by their companion.
For further information about the Companion Card, and for details on how to apply for a card, visit the Queensland Government website.
CPAC is fitted with hearing loops at the box office, bar and auditoriums in both the Theatre and Studio. Headsets are also available for patrons to use in the Theatre and Studio. Please see the Box Office to collect the hearing loop and/or headset and to complete the log book. Once you have finished using the hearing loop, please return it to the bar or an Usher when walking out of the Theatre or Studio.
How to use the hearing loop
For the hearing loop to work, the person with the hearing aid needs to have the Telecoil Software installed on their device. When you are ready to use the hearing loop, simply switch your hearing aid to Telecoil (T).
At the box office or bar
Simply switch the device to Telecoil and the voices of box office/bar staff will be amplified directly into the hearing aids. This is automatic and you do not need to do anything.
Theatre or Studio
Simply plug each end of the hearing loop into the unit and sling it around your neck. Once in the auditorium, turn the hearing aid to the ‘T’ (telecoil) programme and the loop will transmit the sound directly into your hearing aid. For additional amplification, a headset can also be plugged into the hearing loop.
If the customer does not have the software installed on their hearing aid, they can still benefit by using the headphones connected to the unit instead.
Further information on the hearing loop technology can be found at the Hearglow website.
Assistance animals trained to assist people with disabilities are welcome. Please notify the Ticketlink staff at the time of your booking if you are visiting CPAC accompanied by your support dog to ensure appropriate seating is allocated.
